Pooneh Alborzi, MD
Dr. Alborzi, MD came
to Pennsylvania Nephrology Associates in September, 2009. She
received her medical degree in 1998 from Shiraz University of
Medical Sciences in Shiraz, Iran. During her training there, she
received several awards, including Second Best Thesis of the
Year and graduated in the top 3% of her class. While an Internal
Medicine resident at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, she
was recognized for being an outstanding junior resident. Dr.
Alborzi was also an Internal Medicine resident at Bridgeport
Hospital Program/Yale University in Bridgeport, CT. In 2005, she
became a Fellow in the Division of Nephrology at Indiana
University School of Medicine, where she was an active
participant in clinical research. She completed her fellowship
in nephrology in 2008. Before moving to the Philadelphia area,
Dr. Alborzi practiced nephrology in Harrisburg, PA.
Dr. Alborzi is board
certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the
American Board of Internal Medicine. She is a member of the
Renal Physicians’ Association and the American Society of
She has served as a
research investigator for a fellowship research training grant.
She co-authored several clinical research publications as well
as other editorials, reviews and abstracts. Dr. Alborzi’s area
of special interest is hypertension and management of chronic
kidney diseases. She also diagnoses and treats all other renal
conditions and underlying causes.
